Privacy policy

Business Runs Better ("I", "me") is run by Mike Cavallo in Leland, North Carolina, and operates businessrunsbetter.com. This policy explains what information the site collects and what I do with it. The short version: I collect only what I need to reply to you and do the work, and I don't sell it to anyone.
What I collect
- Contact form: your name, email, and anything else you choose to enter (business name, phone, budget, message).
- Payments: handled entirely by Stripe. I receive your name, email, the amount paid and what it was for. I never see or store your card number.
- Technical data: the web host keeps standard server logs (IP address, browser type, pages requested) for security and troubleshooting. Your IP address is also used briefly to block spam on the contact form.
The site does not use advertising trackers, analytics cookies or third-party scripts.
Cookies
The public site doesn't set cookies. The only cookie used is a login cookie on my private admin page, which visitors never see.
How I use it
- To reply to your inquiry and follow up about it.
- To deliver services you've paid for, and to send receipts and invoices.
- To keep records required for accounting and tax purposes.
When you send the contact form you'll get one automatic email confirming I received it. I won't add you to a mailing list or send marketing emails without asking first.
Who I share it with
Only the services needed to run the business: my web host (which stores the site and the inquiry records), my email provider, a notification service that alerts my phone to new inquiries, and Stripe for payments. Each handles your information under its own privacy policy. I don't sell or rent your information.
Client project data
When I work on your systems, I access only what the project needs, and I don't use your business or customer data for any other purpose. Details for each project are in its written agreement.
Security
The site runs over HTTPS. Inquiries are stored outside the public part of the web server, and access to them is password protected. No system is perfectly secure, but I take reasonable steps to protect what you send me and will tell you promptly if a breach affects your information.
Children
This site and these services are for businesses. They're not directed at children under 13, and I don't knowingly collect their information.
How long I keep it
Inquiries are kept for as long as they're useful for following up, then deleted on request. Payment and invoice records are kept as long as tax law requires.
Your choices
You can ask me to show you, correct, or delete the information I hold about you. Email info@businessrunsbetter.com and I'll handle it within 30 days.
Changes
If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted here with a new date.
